A Quest bestowed

The last day of the Summer fair is coming to a close. The merchants are selling the last of their goods and the performers are trying to get loose change from those who are packing up to go home.  The King's Tournament is announced: 9 contenders in a round robin tourney, the winner is bestowed the title of King's champion as well as a handsome reward is given to the champion. 3 guards, two farmers, an archer, a barbarian who is easily distinguishable by his lack of hygiene and aura of strength, Ebrin and Jane stand in the middle of the tourney field shaking hands and wishing luck to their fellow competitors.

 

Jane last two round and Ebrin 3. During the semi-finals the crowds were getting more and more riled up, excited to see who would be titled the King's Champion. The first round, the barbarian and the archer. in the first round of volleys the barbarian knocked the archer out cold. The second and third round knocked off two of the remaining guards leaving the barbarian and guard in the final round. The barbarian swings and missed by an inch, leaving himself open to  a solid whack from the guards club. Perturbed that the guard hit him, he punch the guard in the face, breaking his jaw! The herald of the tourney announce the barbarian as Kings champion! A roar from the crowd emerges as their new champion is escorted up to the palace grounds…. to be continued

One Summer Fair day....

The Summer Fair, also called the King's Fair, has come once again with an array of entertainment to be had by all: Archery competitions, brewing contests, music and food to name a few. On the fifth day of the Fair, a half-elf wizard named Fust starts a pretty simple street performance. Pulling coin out of on-looks ears and other such parlor tricks, when another half elf, well known as a talented Bard, appears behind him to pull out a string of handkerchiefs from the wizards behind! The crowd grew as the Bard pulls out a sword from the wizards ear! Later as the performance dies out the two banter and embrace. Childhood friends, joined together from their magical teacher, Quinn. One followed the path of magic, while the other followed the path of pride. They get interrupted when a fellow performer comes up to them and compliments the show. She smirks at the bard and states that she could've done far better then pull handkerchiefs out of a wizards ass and offers for them both to come to her show the next day….

 

Later that evening, a small group of performers, including Ebrin the Bard, had decided to have a small contest of who could preform the worst song/ballad/poem/hymns etc. Somehow word got out of the contest and most of the Fair seems to have shown up. The first contender told an extremely dry tale of an affair between a barkeep, the wife, and the stable boy. The second performer sang a song he wrote when he was first starting out on his road of becoming a performer. The melody was horrid, the wording was poor…… it was no wonder why he became a juggler. The third performer entertainer of the evening got on stage, blush a deep, deep red and quickly left the stage clearly embarrassed and not expecting such a large turn out. Last but not least, Ebrin arrives on stage after chugging down the last of his ale. He bow eloquently to the crowd as he begins belching out a short, but well known poem. To finish off his poem he promptly let out a nice… long… fart. The crowd hoots and holler, some laughing hysterically, other looking some what appalled. The votes are in and Ebrin wins by a landslide and is offered a purple and yellow jester hat, complete with bells.

 

The next day Ebrin and Fust seek out the performers tent that challenged to one up their street performance, fairly impressed on the size of the gathered crowd.  The performer, obviously prompted at the arrival of the two, announces that she needs an assistance for the next trick. Ebrin jabbed Fust in the side with his elbow as the performer comes off the stage and takes his hand. She introduces herself as Jane and states that no harm will come to him or to his dog. Fust looks around to find his pet has disappeared, but he can still feel the warmth of the dogs body heat beside him. Bewildered he follows Jane on stage. Jane asks him to bend over, facing the side of the stage. Slightly blushing Fust does as he's told. The crowd starts laughing hysterically a few moment later as his dog appears to be getting pulled out from his behind. Jane thanks Fust and give the dog a treat, winking at Ebrin….

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.
